America Maria Hinojosa

With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend who peacefully transitioned to heaven on March 10, 2026, at the age of 85.

Born on December 11, 1940 in Falfurrias, Texas, she lived a life full of faith, compassion, and service to others. She had a beautiful soul and a deep love for music and worship, often playing the guitar and signing in church, sharing her voice and faith with everyone around her.

She is survived by her sons, Amadeo Mario DeLeon, Jr., and Dimas Chavera DeLeon; her adored grandchildren, Amdeo Vidal DeLeon III, Eve America DeLeon, Dimas Michael DeLeon, Jr., Damion Phillip eLeon, Desire Ann DeLeon, Frankie Fray DeLeon, Jr., Corina Nicole DeLeon, Jessica Inez DeLeon, Isaac Martinez DeLeon, and Kevin Rivera; her gran-grandchildren, Kataleya O. Contreras, Angel M. Contreras, Avianna Y. DeLeon, and Ulysses Ray DeLeon; and her brother, David Calderon Chavera.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jesus Chavera Sr.; her mother, Josefa Calderon Chavera; her husband, Nestor Hinojosa; her siblings, Jesus Chavera Jr., Ana Maria Chavera Martinez; and her son, Frankie Ray DeLeon Sr.

A visitation with family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held the following day, Friday, March 20, 2026, at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 a.m. America will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery.
