In Loving Memory of Anthony Craig Darilek
It is with deep sorrow that we share the sudden passing of our beloved Craig Darilek, who left us unexpectedly at the age of 64 on the evening of May 22, 2025.
Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Craig spent the last 15 years making his home in Bastrop County. A devoted worker throughout his life, he had recently embraced the peace of retirement just two and a half years ago. Craig found true joy in life’s simple pleasures—especially those found outdoors. Whether he was casting a fishing line, watching wildlife, or simply enjoying the serenity of his yard, he was most at home in nature. He took great pride in maintaining his outdoor space and cherished the quiet fulfillment of working with his hands and being surrounded by the natural world.
Craig was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Yvonne (Goertz) Darilek.
He will be lovingly remembered by his life partner, Vangie; his son, Jay; brother, Steve Darilek; and sister, Sheila Moore. In addition to the numerous amount of friends he made over the years.
In lieu of flowers, his family invites you to take a moment to step outside—go fishing, watch the birds, or simply breathe in the stillness. Remember Craig in the way he lived: grounded, peaceful, and close to nature.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockne, Texas beginning at 10:30am.
