Elva Rufina Hernandez Iruegas

Elva Hernandez Iruegas peacefully fell asleep in Jesus on January 22nd 2026, secure in the promise of Christ and his resurrection. “Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.” John 11:25-26

A devoted Christian, Mother, Grandmother, Daughter and Sibling, Elva lived life with joy, love and unwavering faith. Elva found strength in prayer and pointed those around her to Jesus. She cherished time with her family, time in worship, and found joy in the moments together. Elva loved to travel, swim and most of all spend quality time with those she loved. She will be remembered by her beautiful smile, laughter and sense of humor. Her family will miss her many talents, including her beautiful voice, guitar and piano playing.

Elva is survived by her Daughters: Yadira Hicken, Alma Gore, Mirella Rigby and Luz Joy Merrick; Sons in Law: Derek Hicken, Garrett Gore, Collin Rigby and Jacob Merrick; Her Granddaughter: Elena María Gore; Her siblings: Yolanda Guerra, Alma Hernandez, Mirella Spalding, Laura Hernandez, Jorge Hernandez and Ezequiel Hernandez. She now joins her mother María de la luz Hernandez Iruegas, and father Rufino Hernandez in everlasting glory.

A celebration of life will be held on 01/31/2026 at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home from 11:00am-1:00pm, followed by a burial at Fairview Cemetery in Bastrop Texas.

Please wear shades of red, or joyful colors to honor Elva's joyful spirit.

Elva Hernandez Iruegas se durmió plácidamente en los brazos de Jesús el 22 de enero de 2026, segura en la promesa de Cristo y de Su resurrección. "25 Le dijo Jesús: Yo soy la resurrección y la vida; el que cree en mí, aunque esté muerto, vivirá. 26 Y todo aquel que vive y cree en mí, no morirá eternamente. ¿Crees esto?" John 11:25-26

Cristiana devota, madre, abuela, hija y hermana, Elva vivió su vida con alegría, amor y una fe inquebrantable. Encontró fortaleza en la oración y siempre dirigió a quienes la rodeaban hacia Jesús. Atesoraba el tiempo con su familia, los momentos de adoración y la alegría de estar juntos. A Elva le encantaba viajar, nadar y, sobre todo, pasar tiempo de calidad con las personas que amaba. Será recordada por su risa, hermosa sonrisa y su sentido del humor. Su familia extrañará profundamente sus muchos talentos, incluyendo su hermosa voz y su don para tocar la guitarra y el piano.

Le sobreviven sus hijas: Yadira Hicken, Alma Gore, Mirella Rigby y Luz Joy Merrick; sus yernos: Derek Hicken, Garrett Gore, Collin Rigby y Jacob Merrick; su nieta: Elena María Gore; y sus hermanos: Yolanda Guerra, Alma Hernandez, Mirella Spalding, Laura Hernandez, Jorge Hernandez y Ezequiel Hernandez. Ahora se reúne con su madre, María de la Luz Hernandez Iruegas, y su padre, Rufino Hernandez, en la gloria eterna.

La celebración de su vida se llevará a cabo el 31 de enero de 2026, en Bastrop Providence Funeral Home, de 11:00 a.m. a 1:00 p.m., seguira el sepelio en el Cementerio Fairview en Bastrop, Texas.
