Gene D. Turner

Gene Turner, 92, of Bastrop, Texas passed away on March 20, 2023.

Gene was born in Cedar Creek, Texas to Sammie and Drucilla Turner on April 7, 1930.

He graduated from Bastrop High School and soon after, he married Lana Hellums on May 7, 1966.

Gene worked for the Texas Department of Transportation in Austin, Texas for 23 years and ranched after his retirement.

Gene is survived by his wife, Lana Turner, of 56 years. Sons, Lyn and Terry Turner. Granddaughters, Addison Turner and Makayla Turner, and great-grandson, Apollo Felan.

Gene is preceded in death by his father, Sammie Turner, mother Drucilla Turner, and brother, Gaylan Turner.

Visitation will be at Providence Funeral Home in Bastrop, Texas on Thursday March 23, 2023 from 4:00-7:00pm. A graveside service will be on Friday March 24, 2023, at 1:00pm at the Upper Cedar Creek Cemetery in Cedar Creek, Texas.

The Turner family would like to thank Gracias Hospice and nurses, Lindsay Noak and JoAnn Jones, as well as caregivers, Chris Magellan, Rebecca Guerrero, Rebecca Mercado, and Linda Rangel.
