Joyce Worrell Solomon

Joyce Worrell Solomon, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on November 3, 2025, in Bastrop, Texas, at the age of 93. Born on December 21, 1931, in Dalhart, Texas, Joyce embodied a spirit of dedication that touched the lives of all who knew her.

A life-long learner and an active participant in her community, Joyce grew up in Lubbock, Texas. While attending Texas Tech University, she met the love of her life, William Glenn Solomon, at the Baptist Student Union on campus. Their love blossomed into a remarkable bond, leading to a blessed marriage that lasted 63 years. Together, they sought to build a family, welcoming two children into their lives.

Joyce lived the majority of her life in Houston, Texas, where she nurtured her family and cultivated a rich and fulfilling life alongside her husband. After fifty years in Houston, they returned to their ranch in Red Rock, Texas, where Joyce spent her final years reflecting on her beautiful memories and the love that surrounded her.

She was the daughter of Champ Clark and Dolores Jackson Worrell and was preceded in death by her brother, George E. Worrell, as well as her devoted husband, William. Joyce is survived by her son Roger and his wife Maria Solomon of Red Rock, Texas, her daughter Anne Vaughn of Bastrop, Texas.  Also leaves behind her sister-in-law Betty Worrell of Fayetteville, GA, several nieces and nephews and their families, and her beloved grandchildren Thomas Solomon, William Solomon, and Lisa Marie Vaughn. 

A devout Christian, Joyce was a faithful member of Bateman Baptist Church for the past 28 years. Her quick wit and beautiful smile endeared her to her fellow parishioners, and her contributions will always be remembered fondly. Joyce's life was one marked by faith, family, and a commitment to serving others, and she will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Services for Joyce Worrell Solomon will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Bateman Baptist Church in Red Rock, Texas. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 10:00 AM. A final farewell will take place after the service, with burial at Bateman Cemetery, followed by a lunch reception at the church.
