Lionel Gonzales

Lionel Gonzales, of Beeville, Texas passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025, in peace surrounded by family in Bastrop, Texas to be with our Lord Jesus Christ at the age of 70. Lionel was born on May 3,1955 to Francisco Morales Gonzales and Juanita Benavidez Gonzales in Mathis, Texas. He graduated from Immokalee High School, Immokalee, Florida in 1974. He was a migrant and labor worker.

He loved and missed those who went before him: his parents, his grandparents, Guadalupe and Maria Gonzales and Lorenzo and Maria Benavidez; many aunts and uncles; his sisters, Estela B. Gonzales and Rosa Gonzales; brother, Francisco "Frank" Gonzales, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Trevino Gonzales and Rosie Flores Gonzales; and nephew, David Rene Gonzales.

He is survived by his brothers, Lasaro (Lydia) Gonzales and Ruben Gonzales all of Beeville, Texas; his sisters, Delia Gonzales of Beeville, Texas and Sandra (Albert) Del Bosque of Bastrop, Texas; nephew, Lawrence Tamez of Beeville, Texas; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

His journey with cancer reminded us to cherish the present and savor every moment. Through it all, he wore a smile and carried laughter with him, no matter what the day brought. He embodied true courage and resilience, inspired by the deep love he had for the life God had blessed him with.

A Memorial Mass will be on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at St. James Catholic Church, Beeville, Texas at 10:00 am, Graveside ceremony will immediately follow at Beeville Memorial Park.
