Mark "Kitos" Anthony Barbosa, Jr.

With deep sorrow and broken hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, grandson, and friend, Mark Anthony Barbosa, Jr., lovingly known as “Kitos.” Born in Austin, Texas on February 8, 2002, Kitos left this world far too soon on July 1, 2025, at the age of 23.

Kitos was the firstborn of Mark and Keyla Barbosa, and from the very beginning, he brought joy, laughter, and light into the lives of all who knew him. He grew up surrounded by cousins, aunts and uncles, grandparents, and friends who are loved as family members.

Kitos shared a powerful and lifelong bond with his siblings Gabriel (“Gaby”), Manuel (“Meme”), and Micaela (“Micki”). They weren’t just siblings, they were each other’s first best friends. From matching Halloween costumes to dinner-table laughter, to the wide-ranging music that united them, their connection was deep and unshakable.

Fearless and full of life, Kitos never shied away from expressing himself, whether he was performing a surprise rap at a school assembly or riding across the football field on his scooter, he made everyone laugh with his bold ideas and bright energy.

After graduation, he worked a variety of jobs, including construction, after-school care, food trucks, security, and most recently full-time at Tesla.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents; Manuel and Yolanda Barbosa; and his Uncle James and Uncle Junior. He is survived by his loving parents, Mark and Keyla Barbosa; his brothers, Gabriel and Manuel Barbosa; and his sister, Micaela Barbosa. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents, Juan and Micaela Flores; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and girlfriend, Jasmine, who will all carry his memory forever in their hearts.

Though his time here was far too short, Kitos lived with a fearless heart, a loving spirit, and a joy that touched everyone around him. His laughter, his kindness, his music, and his memory will remain in our lives forever.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025, from 4-8pm at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home. His funeral celebration will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at 11am at the funeral home. Following, he will be laid to his final rest at Fairview Cemetery.
