Minnie Marlene (Moore) Bennight, age 93, of Bastrop, TX, passed away on July 4, 2024.
  
  “Marlene”, as most knew her, was the only daughter born to Joe Henry & Lona Moore in Kirtley,
  
  TX, on May 23, 1931.
  
  
  Marlene attended Smithville High School where she was heavily involved with her class.
  
  Marlene participated in band, tennis, Future Homemakers of America, drill squad and was a yell
  
  leader. She was voted on by her class as “Best All Around”, Football Sweetheart, and also
  
  served as the class of 1949 Secretary-Treasurer.
  
  
  Marlene met Maurice Lloyd Bennight and shortly after they were married on July 4, 1950. The
  
  two lived in Smithville and later moved to Bastrop where they ended up starting the family ranch
  
  and raising three children. Marlene joined Maurice in Heaven on their 74th wedding anniversary.
  
  
  Marlene worked for Smithville ISD as a script girl and then became a telephone operator in
  
  Bastrop. She then began her career in banking as a teller at First National Bank. She worked
  
  her way up from teller to Vice President. In 1984 she was named one of the first women Vice
  
  Presidents of First National Bank. Marlene’s banking career spanned 37 years from 1962-1999.
  
  Later in life, Marlene enjoyed cooking, shopping with friends, and attending her grand children
  
  and great grandchildren’s numerous events and activities. Marlene was also heavily involved in
  
  women’s buying groups supporting the local livestock shows FFA & 4H students.
  
  
  Marlene is survived by, daughter, Sue (Joe), daughter Janet (Doug), & son, Bubba (Natalie),
  
  grandchildren, Philip (Karen), Cole (Jaime), Cade (Katherine), Peyton (Matthew), Bailey (David),
  
  Brody (Randi) and by her great grandchildren, Lettie, Braxton, Brant, Briggs, Courtney,
  
  Margaret, Kelly, Craig & McLayne.
 
  
  Marlene is preceded in death by her loving husband- Maurice Lloyd Bennight.
 
  
  Minnie Marlene Bennight was loved by many and is remembered for her kindness and support
  
  of her family. Her family rejoices as they are at peace knowing Marlene has been reunited with
  
  Maurice in eternal paradise; where she has longed to be since Maurice’s departure.
 
  
  Visitation will be held at 10 AM, Monday, July 8, 2024 at Providence Funeral Home in Bastrop,
  
  TX. The funeral service will take place the same day, July 8, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow
  
  at Fairview Cemetery in Bastrop, TX.
 
  
  Memorials may be given to Cattlemen’s for Cancer. The family wishes to extend a sincere
  
  thanks to Bec’s Blessings of Giddings and Astella Hospice.
