Ralph O. Nisula

Ralph Oscar Nisula, 82, of Bastrop, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2020 at home surrounded by family.

Ralph was born In Fitchburg, Massachusetts, to Ralph U. and Nellie Hildreth Nisula on March 13, 1938, as the second of their three children. He grew up in Leominster, Massachusetts. At age 17, Ralph enlisted in the US Air Force and was stationed in Alaska. He married Cynthia Lucille Klein on July 2, 1960, in Austin, Texas. He worked a variety of jobs, more notably as a delivery driver for El Galindo and, after retirement, as a school bus driver. He was a long time member of Ascension Catholic Church in Bastrop, Texas.

He enjoyed wood working, photography, his property in rural Bastrop County and, especially, raising his family.

Ralph O. Nisula is survived by his daughter Susan Hammond of Austin, son James Nisula and wife J.J. of Round Rock, daughter Julie Sommerfeld and husband Mike of West Point, and son Mark Nisula and wife Georgia of Houston; grandchildren Catie Hammond and fiancé Ken Perry, Danny Hammond, Dax Nisula, Luke Nisula, Kyle Sommerfeld and wife Yesenia, Carson Sommerfeld, Texas Nisula and Harriet Nisula; great-grandson Kameryn Perry; sister Carol Massey and husband Harvey, brother John Cormier and wife Gloria, brother Barry Cormier, brother Kevin Cormier, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Cynthia, parents Ralph U. Nisula and Nellie Cormier, sister Marion Tata and husband Larry, and granddaughter Hannah Nisula.

Visitation will be at 6:00 pm, with a Rosary recited at 7:00 pm, on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at the Bastrop Providence Funeral Home at 2079 Highway 71 East in Bastrop, Texas.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at Ascension Catholic Church, 804 Pine Street in Bastrop, Texas.
