Richard Doyle Tory, 72, of Bastrop, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 8th, 2025. Born in Keokuk, Iowa, on December 30, 1953, Richard was the cherished son of Doyle and Lorretta Tory. Being the son of an Airforce Serviceman allowed him the unique opportunity to live in various places across the United States and abroad, including Maine, Florida, Japan, Tennessee, and Texas.
Richard attended Alvin High School, where he began to develop a strong work ethic that would serve him throughout his life. After graduating, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1969 to 1973. His time in the military instilled in him a sense of discipline and dedication that he carried with him in all his future endeavors.
A skilled construction worker, Richard channeled his passion for building into a successful career as a business owner of Tory Supply. With his hands, he crafted many homes, not just as structures, but as safe havens filled with love and warmth for their inhabitants. His commitment to quality and craftsmanship left a lasting impact on the places he touched.
Richard will be lovingly remembered by his three children: Maxwell Tory, Isaac Tory, and Jami Tory. He is also survived by his siblings, Kathy Tory-Taylor, Daniel Tory, and James Tory, along with a remarkable legacy of 18 grandchildren who brought joy and pride into his life.
Preceded in death by his beloved parents, Doyle and Lorretta Tory, Richard's memory will continue to live on through his family and all who knew him. As we reflect on Richard's life, we celebrate a man who not only dedicated himself to his craft but also profoundly influenced the lives of those around him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit.
