With deep sorrow, we share that Trevor Scott Deyo, age 25, passed away on November 17th, after a long courageous battle with mental illness.

Trevor was born on February 4, 2000, in Austin, TX to Michael and Sheila Deyo. He called Smithville, TX home from birth through high school.

During his youth, Trevor was active in Boy Scouts, football, cheering on his sisters in sports and video games. Trevor graduated from Smithville High School in 2018, where he began his interest in computers and robotics. After graduating high school, Trevor was passionate about learning and studying computers and programming. He was an avid gamer and a self-taught coder. Trevor brought kindness and warmth to everyone around them. He gave the biggest hugs and was a real-life teddy bear. He would help anyone in a heartbeat and was the type of person who would give the shirt off his back to someone in need. Trevor once found a badly distressed kitten who he nursed back to health. That kitten, Remi, became his shadow.

Trevor was affectionately known as “Tater Tot” a nickname given by his sister Trina who was a toddler at the time and could not say “Trevor Scott”. The nickname stuck and he was still lovingly called that by family. Trevor or “Uncle-T” was a favorite of his nieces and nephews whom he loved to play with.

Trevor is survived by his father, Michael Deyo and wife, Penny of Round Rock, TX; his mother, Sheila Deyo and fiancé, Reed Murphy of Copperas Cove TX; his grandmother, Bobbie Monse of Round Rock, TX; brothers, Daniel Deyo and wife Kristina of Arizona, Rolando (Rolo) Deyo of Smithville, TX; sisters, Selina and husband Joseph Nieto Jr. of Georgetown, TX, Trina and husband Cody Pierce of Kennard, TX; and his soon to be step brother, Nick Murphy of Copperas Cove, TX. Trevor is also survived by his Aunt Kathryn Deyo, Uncle Harris Ray Monse and wife, Cathy, and Aunt Pam Petty and husband Trey. Uncle-T is also survived by many nieces and nephews and his beloved rescue kitty Remi. Trevor was preceded in death by his grandfather, Scott Gray; grandmother, Henrietta Gray; and Uncle Mark Deyo.

Trevor was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend to many. His struggle never diminished the love he gave or the joy he brought to others. The family hopes that his passing reminds us of the importance of compassion and mental health support. In honor of Trevor, the family wishes to gently remind others that no one has to face mental health struggles alone. If you or someone you know is in emotional distress or considering suicide, help is available 24/7/365. In the United States, you can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, or chat at 988lifeline.org.
